Sherex Fastening Solutions LLC has named G.L. Huyett a master distributor in a strategic move it says is designed to enrich the supply chain of the OEM fastener distribution market.
“We see G.L. Huyett as a leading supply chain innovator in the industry with a unique combination of value-added technical tools, superior customer service, and one of the most highly-trained field sales teams in the business,” says Adam Pratt, Sherex President and CEO. “Our expectation is that G.L. Huyett will support the market with safety stock, broken-box small order fulfillment, and technical support, all at a competitive price.”
Sherex rivet nuts are among the offerings G.L. Huyett will distribute from Sherex. Rivet nuts are becoming more and more popular every year, according to Sherex. Their ease of use, high shear and tension strength, and quicker installation times are an improvement over traditional bolt and nut, and weld nut applications. An appeal for OEM users is that rivet nuts are blind, just like with traditional rivets – allowing them to be installed securely from one side of the work piece.
“Adam Pratt is a thoughtful and resourceful entrepreneur and we are like-minded in our commitment to distribution support in the industry. This will be a great partnership with a market leader in rivet nuts with a nearly worldwide operation,” said Tim O’Keeffe, CEO of G.L. Huyett. “We have shared significant resources so that our sales and engineering teams can not only support the market with safety stock and small quantity fulfillment, but also in design-in and business development actions with our OEM fastener distributor customers. We will be a great team out there.”
G.L. Huyette says rivet nuts are designed to provide strong load-bearing threaded connections in thin gauge materials, or “skins,” when threading is not an option. With the advent of newer materials that reduce product weight or increase strength, designs for “skinning” industrial and commercial objects have become ever more sophisticated. Industrial skinning has become a craft, and G.L. Huyett says it is well-positioned to support the supply chain for industrial skin craft.
“By partnering with Sherex, our customers will receive better service and technical support from our in-field distributor support team,” said Dan Harriger, G.L. Huyett’s VP Sales. They’ll also have shorter lead times than what they are traditionally accustomed to when ordering directly from Sherex.”
Both companies will be exhibiting at Fastener Fair USA, May 18-20, 2020 in Charlotte. Sherex will be in Booth 519 while G.L. Huyett will be in Booth 524 showing fastener distributors its broad spectrum of more than 140,000 SKUs in over 1,150 product lines.
